Power Man is a future version of Luke Cage who is also the Sentry, and also Iron Fist, and also the Hulk. He's also a time traveler. This is all canon for the main Marvel universe.

Last issue, Power Man fought Aeon the Knife and the planet Mercury turned out to be a giant brain in a shell.

Invasion #2 wrapped up the actual alien invasion, leaving the crossover issues to deal with the aftermath and then get a surprise ending, leading into Invasion #3.

Wonder Woman begins WW #26 feeling a much greater sense of camaraderie with the Justice League International than she would ever show again, including years later when she was leading the team. It’s hilarious, but relatable, that even though the JLI would sign her on in a heartbeat, she’s like, I know it’s arrogant to think myself worthy, but what if they might maybe someday possibly consider me? If I keep my numbers up?

It’s a damn shame this era’s Max Lord never got to meet this era’s Myndi Mayer. )

What is Barbarian Lord? Well, there's a website that explains it perfectly cromulently, but if you want the short version, imagine Bone-style comics cartoonery illustrating an Icelandic saga. One part Carl Banks, two parts Walt Simonson. And it has an Epic Rap Battle of History.

I think technically it's called Flyting. )

Last issue, Power Man - a future version of Luke Cage who is also Iron Fist, and also The Sentry, and also The Hulk - fought some guy named Aeon the Knife, who killed some cosmic thing called the Celestial Heart.

What the heck is up with Aeon the Knife? What the heck is the Celestial Heart? Reader, you will find half the answer to one of these questions.

Plotted by Keith Giffen, Invasion would be the last big crossover to affect the JLI for a few years, almost until the end of the Giffen-DeMatteis era. It’s a classic war story with a twist: many different factions and races putting aside their differences and banding together against a dangerous common enemy. The twist is that the enemy is Earth.

It all begins when humans do better than expected in an alien-juried version of Squid Game. Script by Bill Mantlo, art by Todd McFarlane--and I suspect McFarlane added a few of the captions; they feel a lot like his style.

''Wait, they GOT the 'who buries the survivors' question? NO ONE gets that one!'' )

Power Man - Timeless is about a future version of Luke Cage who is also Iron Fist. And also the Sentry. And also the Hulk.

You may find the following pages overwrought and hard to follow. I assure you the missing pages do nothing to alleviate that.

In the comments to these weekly posts (and only these posts), it's your chance to go as off topic as you like.

Talk about non-comics stuff, thread derail, and just generally chat among yourselves.

The intent of these posts is to chat and have some fun and, sure, vent a little as required. Reasoned debate is fine, as always, but if you have to ask if something is going over the line, think carefully before posting please.

Normal board rules about conduct and behaviour still apply, of course.

It's been suggested that, if discussing spoilers for recent media events, it might be advisable to consider using the rot13 method to prevent other members seeing spoilers in passing.

The world situation is the world situation. If you're following the news, you know it as much as I do, if you're not, then there are better sources than scans_daily. But please, no doomscrolling, for your own sake.

I mean... between the Epstein files in the US, and the UK's Labour Government recommending immigration policies that make the former Tory ones look progressive I wouldn't know where to start.

Happy Life Day to those who celebrate the most wince-worthy of fictional holidays... the anniversary of the first showing of The Star Wars Holiday Special

I've been dealing with some things in real life so have not been able to catch up on new shows like "Pluribus" or "IT! Welcome to Derry" as yet. Any good?

I did find that there was a special Epilogue released to celebrate the tenth anniversary of The Bright Sessions which was a bit of a reminder about the transitory nature of time as I could have sworn it was barely five years ago it came out.

And it was confirmed that the Doctor Who spin off miniseries about UNIT "The War Between The Land and the Sea" will launch on 7th December, at the same time as an edited version of the original Jon Pertwee series "The Sea Devils" is released. Certain sections of the fandom are already "outraged/appalled/clutching their pearls" that the Sea Devils will be referred to as "Homo Aqua".

As if "Sea Devils" wasn't originally just a term used by a traumatised person to describe the creatures that attacked him, rather than a more neutral name you might want to use in a diplomatic relationship.

Last time out, the Weird dramatically flushed a toilet, implying to “the Jason,” “See what I did to this poo? This is you in five more seconds.”
